Ukrainian dance duo Daria Popova and Volodymyr Belikov became leaders at the international figure skating tournament “Winter Star”, which started on December 12 in the capital of Belarus.
Students of Kharkiv coach Halyna Churilova received 70.96 points for rhythmic dance, having performed all key elements cleanly and qualitatively. The technical evaluation of the dancers was 41.10 points, and the components of the judge were evaluated at 29.86 points.
Our skaters are slightly ahead of the French Julia Wagre and Pierre Suquet – 69.69, which portends a fierce struggle for the highest award of the tournament among seniors. Belarusians Victoria Semenyuk and Ilya Yukhimuk, who are close to the first two duets – 68.68, do not lose hope to fight for her.
The Ukrainians entered the group of leaders in the junior category, where Odesa’s Lika Bondar and Artem Koval (coach Olena Onyschenko) successfully coped with rhythmic dance and took second place with a result of 55.44. The first position – the Russians Elizabeth Shichina and Gordian Khulupov, who before the implementation of the arbitrary program secured a considerable margin of points – 65.97.
In third place are Belarusian athletes Svitlana Barmotsyna and Svyatoslav Verstakov – 55.29, and fourth, lagging behind them by only 0.13 points, is another of our duo – Kharkiv’s Maria Pinchuk and Nikita Pogorelov – 55.16.
It is noteworthy that today the dancers will perform arbitrary programs.
The international tournament “Winter Star” is held for the first time. Due to the epidemiological situation, the competitions are held without spectators.
