“The meeting, which is expected to take place on Thursday, may include a resolution instructing the newly formed commission to investigate the war to submit a detailed report to the council later this year,” the newspaper said.

This came after Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Yevhenia Filipenko, wrote a letter calling for consideration of “recent reports of war crimes and large-scale violations in Bucha… and reports of mass casualties in Mariupol.”
The United Kingdom, the United States and Germany were among the 55 countries that signed the document.

On March 30, Federico Villegas, chairman of the UN Human Rights Council, announced the establishment of a commission to investigate war crimes committed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
