Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 10, 2022 – The Servant of the People’s Party announced on its official Facebook page the death of the first President of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, today, May 10, at the age of 88.
During his presidency of the Ukrainian state he made a significant contribution to the renaissance of Ukraine, the main Ukrainian symbols were ratified, such as the coat of arms, the flag and the state anthem of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were formed, and the independence of Ukraine was recognized all over the world, as he was the first speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.
Kravchuk also participated in the political life of Ukraine and cheered for peace, independence and the success of his country to the end. In July 2020, he headed the Ukrainian delegation to the tripartite contact group for a peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
The Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine Andrei Yermak also expressed his condolences on the death of Leonid Kravchuk, writing, “Sad news and a great loss, I got to know him personally, and I am really proud of him.
