A “witch’s hat” was removed from the country’s main Christmas tree on Sophia Square in Kyiv.

Earlier the council of evangelical Protestant churches of Ukraine addressed the mayor Vitaliy Klitschko with a request to remove his hat from the Christmas tree on Sofia Square, saying that it was “perceived as a witch’s attribute.” The Christmas tree was also criticized by the PCU.
The founder of the Folk Ukraine project, the organizer of New Year’s and Christmas holidays on Sofia and Kontraktova Squares Igor Dobrutsky declared that on the main Christmas tree of the country on Sofia Square in Kiev there will be a Christmas star which will replace a magic hat on the eve of St. Nicholas Day.
It will be illuminated by the hologram of St. Nicholas, as he himself is in self-isolation.
