Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 14, 2022 – German Chancellor Olaf Schulz said he did not see any change in Russian President Putin’s intentions after a phone call with him, and that Russia had pushed itself into a “tragic situation”.
Schultz stressed that sooner or later the aggressor will have to negotiate with Ukraine, because Russia has failed to achieve any of the goals in Ukraine.
He said, “Ukraine has not been occupied, it defends itself skillfully, showing courage and self-sacrifice, and NATO has not withdrawn, but has already strengthened the eastern flank of the alliance, and it will become stronger when Finland and Sweden join, since during the war on Ukraine the Russian army itself suffered much more losses than It was in the ten years of the Afghan campaign against the Soviet Union, and Putin must realize that the only way out of this situation is to negotiate with Ukraine. ”
He described the withdrawal of Russian forces as one of the conditions of the peace treaty, and until that happens, sanctions against Russia will continue to be tightened.
“The Russian president must understand that his country’s ability to benefit from global progress is disrupted until real peace comes,” he said.
