Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 15, 2022 – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law “On making amendments to the legislative acts of Ukraine on the ban on political parties”.
Thus, the law expands the list of grounds for a court to ban a political party. Respective grounds are justification, recognition of legality or denial of an armed attack on Ukraine, including interpretation of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and/or the Republic of Belarus against Ukraine as an internal conflict, civil conflict, civil war.
It is envisaged that in the event of a judicial ban on a political force, property, funds and other assets shall become the property of the state.
The law will come into force the day after its publication.
