Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 16, 2022 – Prosecutor Irina Venediktova announced on Ukrainian TV channels that 42 investigators of the International Criminal Court have arrived in Ukraine.
“We have to help them if we want international justice, but his personal strategy is his personal strategy,” said Internal Security Agency prosecutor Karim Khan, who is a completely independent prosecutor with his team. She explained that ISS investigators would collect evidence in Ukraine.
“We have to understand that they work on the principle of complementarity, that is, they will do everything that we cannot do, they do not and will not investigate those crimes can and should be investigated by national justice,” Venediktova said.
She stated that these Internal Security Agency investigators can build their own chain of evidence from regular soldiers to some commanders.
The Prosecutor said: “We can understand that their justice may be long enough, but on the other hand it was under the supervision of the former Prosecutor General, so, we can still count on the fact that the dynamics of international justice will be different now, because the war in Ukraine represented in Reality is a challenge for everyone.”
The KKE leader noted that everyone has already seen that international law does not work, international humanitarian law fails to protect our citizens and now no one is stopping, and the war continues in Ukraine.
So now I think that international justice will work differently, when the ICC investigators gather enough evidence of implication in war crimes, the prosecutor goes directly to the material collected to the circuit of judges, and really there they have to think about how to proceed.
Ukrainian Justice Minister Denis Maliuska also stated that the Law on Cooperation with the ISS will allow Ukrainian law enforcement officers to present evidence to the court of Russian war crimes committed in Ukraine.
