Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 17, 2022- Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a speech on Tuesday regarding the development of the oil sector that the West is killing itself economically by stopping dependence on Russian energy sources, stressing the inability of Western countries to disengage from oil and gas imports from Russia.
The Russian president considered that the Western economy is suffering from great losses, due to the decisions taken regarding Russian energy, in reference to the Western sanctions that followed Russia’s invasion of its neighbor Ukraine.
He added that the West holds Russia responsible for inflation in the field of energy, but the fault lies on their shoulders.

Meanwhile, Putin stressed Moscow’s work to create the appropriate conditions to keep pace with developments in the energy field, despite Western sanctions.
It is also mentioned that the European Commission expected the need for 195 billion euros, or approximately 206 billion dollars, to give up Russian energy, at a time when the European Union is seeking to reach a consensus on the decision to ban oil as part of a sixth package of sanctions against Russia, which has been hampered by the Hungarian refusal so far. .
And EU foreign ministers failed in their efforts to pressure Hungary to drop its rejection of a proposed oil embargo on Russia, with Lithuania saying the bloc was “hostage to one member state”.
The ban on crude oil imports proposed by the European Commission in early May will be its toughest sanctions yet in response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Both the United States and the United Kingdom have stopped importing oil from Russia, and they are less dependent on Russian energy sources than European countries.
