As of now, the total passenger traffic per day is at the level of 70-85 thousand people – in both directions. Demchenko stressed that 1.5 weeks ago this figure fluctuated at the level of 70-80 thousand people per day, which indicates an increase in the number of people crossing the border.
“Most people cross the border with Poland – the bulk. We are not recording the queue to leave Ukraine at the moment. At certain hours, a small number of vehicles may congregate in certain directions, but all this is due to the fact that people are trying to cross the border in one direction or another. Starting from May 10, we record the advantage of entering Ukraine over leaving. First of all, they are citizens of Ukraine. It can be concluded that Ukrainians are returning home, “he said.
The representative of the department noted that the SBGS could only on certain days record the predominance of departure over entry. And this mostly happened before the holidays.
Demchenko also stressed that it is not possible to cross the border on foot to enter Ukraine at all checkpoints. This can be done only through those checkpoints that are defined by the relevant agreements between the countries where the pedestrian lane is arranged.
“Unfortunately, there are still cases of attempted violations by Ukrainian citizens. (for attempts – ed.) 2,800 such people, mostly men, have been detained illegally across Ukraine since February 24, ”he continued.
In particular, there are attempts to leave Ukraine using forged documents or hiding in vehicles. In total, 715 people were found. All of them were not allowed to cross the border, in some cases they were prosecuted.
Addition
According to the SBGS, for example, on the day of May 14, almost 46,000 people crossed the border , including more than 42,000 Ukrainians.
