Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 19, 2022 – Britain imposed new sanctions on the Russian aviation sector, and said that the Russian state-owned Aeroflot Airlines, Ural Airlines and Russia Airlines will now not be able to sell their tickets at UK airports.
Whereas, “Aeroflot” had announced the suspension of its international flights, starting from the eighth of March, at a time when Moscow was subjected to severe Western sanctions against the backdrop of its invasion of Ukraine.
A spokesman for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said last March that the CEO of the Russian airline, Mikhail Polboyarinov, was no longer a member of the organization’s board of governors.
And the European Union put Polboyarinov on the blacklist recently, in the context of escalating pressure on Russia in the wake of its invasion of Ukraine.
