The World Economic Forum is an international organization of cooperation between the public and private sectors, best known for its annual meetings in Davos. Usually such meetings are attended by the most prominent public leaders, shaping the global agenda. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, meetings have not been held for more than two years.
And so, tomorrow, for the first time, the leaders will gather in person in Davos to discuss global challenges and ways to overcome them, the first of which, of course, is Russian aggression.
Who will take part in the 2022 forum and what you need to know about the event
According to the organizers, the meeting will be held “at a turning point in history” – events will take place daily from 22 to 26 May 2022, and is expected to be attended by about 2,500 leaders in various fields.
The central theme of this year’s meeting is: “A turning point in history: Public policy and business strategy.” It is not difficult to guess what it is about. According to the organizers, the war in Ukraine and the tragedy that accompanies it encourage “global moral action.” Against this background, this year’s forum participants will search for solutions to urgent humanitarian and security issues.
This year’s forum sessions will focus on issues such as: global cooperation; change in the economic balance; society, equality and health of the world; nature, food and climate; industrial transformation; innovation, governance and cybersecurity.
The leaders will focus on issues such as developing strategies of influence, creating new frontiers, developing viable scenarios for the future and solving the world’s biggest problems.
This year, the forum is expected to be attended by 300 state representatives, including more than 50 heads of state and government.
Among them, in particular, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the ICRC Peter Maurer, the President of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg.
The participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is also expected, albeit virtually.
It is planned that the meeting will be attended by more than 1,250 prominent representatives of the private sector, 200 leaders of civil society, as well as more than 400 representatives of the media and press.
What to expect from Ukraine
Yes, our country in Davos, in addition to the President, will be represented by as many as 10 officials. Among them are the head of the Ministry of Finance Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Yulia Svyridenko, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, the head of the NBU Kyrylo Shevchenko, as many as five people’s deputies and events of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko. Other prominent guests are also expected, including from areas such as culture and economics.
According to the Ukrainian House in Davos, First Lady Olena will join President Zelensky’s virtual speech scheduled for May 23.
The Ukrainian House in Davos will be open to visitors from 12:00 local time on Monday, May 23, to 22:00 on Wednesday, May 25. According to Ukrbudyn representatives, this year the Davos community provided a place to hold and service events free of charge.

Earlier, the President noted that the meeting in Davos this year will be especially important for Ukraine . Also, according to him, it will discuss the post-war reconstruction of the country.
