Former head of British intelligence Mi-6 Richard Dirlav said that Putin could step down as president of Russia by next year. However, this is not due to the war in Ukraine, but to the state of health of the 69-year-old dictator.

“I think he will go by 2023, but probably to a sanatorium from which he will not leave as the leader of Russia. I am not saying that he will not leave the sanatorium, but he will no longer become the leader of the country. This is a way to move forward. without a coup, “said Richard Dirlav.

According to him, Putin will be replaced by Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the National Security Council and one of his favorite “security officers.” 

Dirlav also stressed that within 18 months, “maybe something will fall apart.” The former head of intelligence means that the Putin regime may come to an end in Russia, but this does not mean that it will disappear.

“There is no doubt that this Ukrainian special operation is a catastrophe. Russia’s economy is in disarray, sanctions will really start to hurt in the next three or six months, inflation will be very high, and moreover, militarily it is a complete fiasco,” he said.
