The businessman is suspected of supplying Russia with products that could be used to create chemical weapons.
“According to the accusation of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, this entrepreneur from the district of Leipzig has been supplying electronics to companies connected with the Russian secret services since 2017, which can be used in the production of chemical weapons,” the statement said.
The prosecutor’s office suspects that he used a network of fictitious companies to circumvent EU sanctions against Russia over the occupation of Crimea.
The prosecutor’s office also believes that the accused knew that these products were used to make missiles, nuclear, chemical and even biological weapons. Therefore, its supply violates the law on arms control.
It is known that at the first court hearing the businessman persuaded him to act intelligently and honestly, to the best of his knowledge and beliefs.
