Ukrainians make up the majority of migrants in the Czech Republic. Our compatriots are ahead of other groups in their number.
In 2019, 11,000 Ukrainians came to the Czech Republic. This was stated on December 15 in a report by the Czech Statistical Office.
The Slovaks were in second place. Their number is only one and a half thousand. In the Czech Republic, the population reached 10.71 million people. The number of inhabitants increased precisely due to emigrants.
In the first half of 2020, the country’s population increased by 13.9 thousand people. The growth was also due to foreigners. The balance of foreign migration reached 15.6 thousand compared to the period from January to September 2019.
Experts of the status department noted that in 2019 there were fewer people who came for permanent residence. This situation is associated with the spread of the pandemic in the world.
