The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has proposed to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to create a political, economic and military alliance that will be an alternative to the European Union. This was reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera , citing its own sources .

According to the publication, Johnson first voiced this idea at a meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv on April 9. According to the British Prime Minister, the alternative alliance should include countries “united by distrust of Brussels, as well as Germany’s reaction to Russia’s military aggression”, namely: Ukraine, Great Britain, Poland, Estonia, Latvia , Lithuania and Turkey.
According to Johnson, this should be a union of states that resolutely defend national sovereignty, adhere to a liberal approach to the economy and are ready to take the most uncompromising stance on the military threat from Moscow.
