Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 28, 2022 – The “European Political Community” proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron as an alternative to EU membership is unacceptable for Ukraine.
This is what President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky answered a question from a journalist in an interview with Newsur. “We did not attend that. We only need the support of these countries and we do not want any alternative.” According to Zelensky, this proposal is similar to the initiatives of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Ukraine does not need that.
Macron proposed on May 9 the creation of a political community in Europe to which non-EU countries, including Ukraine, could belong. The French Minister of State for European Affairs said on May 22 that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union could take decades.
