“Vaccination continues in all regions of the country, except Donetsk and Luhansk. There are no regulatory, legal or organizational grounds for its termination. Of course, a significant obstacle to vaccination is the reduction of infrastructure,” said Kuzin.
Details
He explained that before the full-scale war, there were more than 3,500 vaccination points, 500 mass vaccination centers and 1,400 mobile brigades for hard-to-reach groups. At present, a thousand vaccination points, almost a thousand mobile teams and about 350 mass vaccination centers have been closed for security reasons and due to the reorientation of health workers. This, of course, affects the rate of vaccination. Until February 24, about 100,000 vaccinations were given daily. Now – 50-60 thousand per week.
“Currently, two vaccines are being used – CoronaVac and Pfizer. Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines are not available in the country, and they will not be used in the near future, because we have enough of the first two,” said the chief medical officer.
Kuzin also added that additional teams are currently working to vaccinate internally displaced persons and people living in remote areas to the west.
Addition
The WHO points out that the war in Ukraine is leading to serious violations in the Ukrainian health care system, including the disruption of routine vaccination.
