Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – May 31, 2022- Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Kalina Konstantinova said on Monday that the state housing program for Ukrainian refugees has been suspended due to the attitude of the majority of Ukrainians who do not want to move within the country.
The Bulgarian authorities also stated that with the start of the summer tourist season, they cannot afford to keep Ukrainian citizens in seaside hotels after Tuesday, May 31.
“The situation has developed since this moment in the hands of the Ukrainian community in Bulgaria,” the deputy prime minister said.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian refugees did not leave from the coasts of Varna, Sozopol and Burgas, because they did not know what transportation the government is supposed to provide to go.
Also, only 62 refugees left by train from the Black Sea cities of Burgas and Varna for regions in the country.
According to official data, nearly 300,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Bulgaria since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and more than 110,000 of them have received temporary protection and asylum from the state.
