. it is possible to somehow organize the extraction and delivery of products to our company in order to resume chlorine production, “said Pustovoit, noting that in order to avoid salt shortages now, the Ministry of Economy had to worry about its import in March.
He clarified that chlorine reserves are now available and are being delivered to the country’s water utilities, even where transportation is difficult due to hostilities.
“To date, Dniproazot manages to maintain the balance of chlorine in Ukraine’s water utilities, and despite the difficulties with logistics, we support delivery to Kharkiv, Kyiv, and other Ukrainian water utilities,” Pustovoit said.
In turn, the chairman of the parliamentary committee Hetmantsev promised to address this issue to the Prime Minister to resolve it as soon as possible.
Context
Ukraine’s largest salt company, Artemsil, has announced a shutdown due to hostilities, with Soledar producing 5.5 tonnes of salt a day.
In Ukraine, salt is also mined in Drohobych, Lviv region, but the volume of production there is much lower. There are also salt mines in Solotvyno in Transcarpathia.
It should be noted that according to open data, Dniproazot produces liquid chlorine, which is supplied to 170 water utilities.
