The Ministry of Economy stated that farmers have fully harvested the main crops, as well as completed the sowing of winter crops for next year.
According to the operative data of the regions, farmers harvested 83.8 million tons of main crops from an area of 24.1 million hectares. Cereals and legumes were threshed 65.4 million tons from an area of 15.3 million hectares.
In terms of crops collected:
wheat – 25.1 million tons from an area of 6.6 million hectares;
barley – 7.8 million tons from an area of 2.4 million hectares;
peas – 516.2 thousand tons from an area of 237.7 thousand hectares;
corn – 29.8 million tons from an area of 5.3 million hectares;
buckwheat – 106.5 thousand tons from an area of 78.5 thousand hectares;
millet – 244 thousand tons from an area of 150.4 thousand hectares;
sugar beets – 9.2 million tons from an area of 216 thousand hectares;
sunflower – 13.1 million tons from an area of 6.4 million hectares;
soybeans – 2.8 million tons from an area of 1.3 million hectares;
rapeseed – 2.6 million tons from an area of 1.1 million hectares.
Winter crops were sown on an area of 8.07 million hectares. In particular, sown:
wheat – 6.1 million hectares;
barley – 954.7 thousand hectares;
rye – 125.2 thousand hectares;
rapeseed – 881.1 thousand hectares.
“This year’s gross grain harvest amounted to 65.4 million tons, which is three times more than the needs of the domestic market, and also allows us to maintain a leading position in agricultural exports,” said Minister of Trade, Agriculture and Agriculture of Ukraine Igor Petrashko.
Ukraine has already exported 12.2 million tons of wheat, the transitional balance in 2020/21 MY is expected at 1.5 million tons.
The Ministry of Economy has worsened the forecast of grain harvest in 2020 in Ukraine by 3 million tons – up to 65 million tons.
