Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 7, 2022- The New Zealand government has imposed new restrictive measures against 44 state-owned companies in Russia and Belarus due to the invasion of Ukraine.
As one of these state-owned companies is Gazprom, Russia’s largest and a major source of Russian export revenue through gas sales, we have also imposed sanctions on organizations that produce weapons and military technology for Putin’s war, which are part of Russia’s massive military-industrial complex. Round of sanctions, a total of 44 companies were identified, including six Belarusian defense companies.
“New Zealanders will be barred from doing business with these companies,” New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaya Mahuta said.
According to her, these companies, controlled by the Putin government, are of strategic importance to Russia because they provide raw materials, infrastructure, communications, transportation, weapons and finance.
Meanwhile, she stressed that the New Zealand government continues to strongly oppose Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, impose sanctions and take measures to support Ukraine to influence Russia to abandon the war.
The Japanese authorities also imposed new restrictive measures against Russia and Belarus due to the mass invasion of Ukraine, these were the Moscow Credit Bank, the Russian Agricultural Bank, and the Belarusian Bank for Development and Reconstruction.
