The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, said that Ukraine had invited him to head an expert mission to the Zaporizhzhya NPP last week. However, NNEGC Energoatom denied this information .

“We have the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, disconnected from the system for transmitting data on the state of nuclear materials, so we are going to Zaporozhye. At the invitation of Ukraine,” Grossi said on Twitter.
At the same time, Energoatom reported that Ukraine did not invite the IAEA chief to visit ZNPP, but had previously denied him such a visit, emphasizing that a visit to the station would be possible only when Ukraine could regain control of the station.
“IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi is lying again. We see this message from the IAEA chief as another attempt to get to ZNPP by any means to legitimize the occupiers’ stay there and in fact approve all their actions. The Ukrainian side did not invite Grossi to visit ZNPP. “I have previously denied him such a visit, emphasizing that a visit to the station will be possible only when our country regains control over it,” the statement said.
They stressed that the loss of ZNPP’s connection with the IAEA was actually caused by the actions of the Russian occupiers, who cut off the Ukrainian operator Vodafone in Energodar, with which the IAEA has a data transfer contract.
Currently, all data collection points and servers under the Agency’s control are closed and sealed. The information is accumulated on the server and will be transferred when Vodafone is turned on.
Energoatom also does not rule out that “it was the Russian side that, with the prior consent of the IAEA, made sure that the Agency” lost control “over ZNPP, and the IAEA Director General should have a reason to come to the station.”
Addition
On May 17, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced plans to send another mission to Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the coming weeks.
Earlier, Rosatom Director General Oleksiy Likhachev and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi met in Istanbul to discuss in detail the situation with ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine.
