“Today, the European Commission launched a new project under its Foreign Policy Instrument to support the investigative capacity of the International Criminal Court (ICC) worth 7.25 million euros,” the statement said.
Details
The project, first announced by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Kyiv, is “part of the EU’s efforts to combat impunity for international crimes around the world.”
“In particular, it will help the ISS to expand its investigative capacity to respond to ongoing investigations into war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine,” the EC said.
Addition
The EU supports the investigation launched by the ICC prosecutor. On 25 April, Eurojust and the ICC agreed to join forces, and the Court agreed to participate in the EU Joint Investigation Team. Information on possible war crimes and crimes against humanity is currently being collected so that in the future the relevant parties can investigate and make a court decision to ensure that those responsible for war and other crimes are brought to justice, the European Commission said.
