Due to the shortage of raw materials supplied from the southern regions, problems with logistics and lack of packaging, it is to be expected that prices for canned goods will increase.

“We are witnessing not only a shortage of raw materials, but also an increase in the price of all stages of the supply chain to us as end consumers, which leads to higher prices. Processors are facing problems with energy, which is now rising in price. There are also problems and disruptions with the labor force, as some went to the front and some became internally displaced persons. Accordingly, all this adds instability to processors and affects the price, “said Trofimtseva.
Let’s add
Journalist about the problems with raw materials and rising logistics costs, the juice producer Galicia also said.
“There are problems with raw materials. We bought it in Kherson and Mykolayiv regions, but now we can’t take away these raw materials. They started buying abroad and, of course, there is another problem – the cost of logistics is increasing, and as a result, products are becoming more expensive, ”the company said.
In addition, canning producers have problems with packaging due to reduced number of plants and difficulties with imports.
“There is no problem in any part, for example with raw materials, and with everything else – everything is fine. Many industries have suffered from hostilities, occupation and not all industries have the opportunity to relocate to the western and central regions. Accordingly, the number of our domestic producers of glass, gestures and other elements needed for production is now much smaller and we are forced to import. However, there are also problems with imports now, ”Trofimtseva said.
Although the Dobrovelychkivsky cannery did not experience a problem with raw materials, as the company grows vegetables and fruits on its own in Central Ukraine, it faced a shortage of containers and preservatives.
“We have a problem with banks and lids. We bought a glass bank in the Kyiv region, but the plant stopped working. There is production in Western Ukraine, but they have only small banks. They do not produce the 3-liter containers we use, so we will soon have problems with banks. Regarding the lids. We bought some of them in advance, but it is difficult to say what will happen next, because some manufacturers have reported that they have a problem with tin, as all the material was foreign. There are still problems with acid as a preservative, as it is all imported, ”said the manufacturer.
Trofimtseva does not advise to expect cheaper products after the war.
… As consumers, you and I must understand that each of us, as well as the economy of the country as a whole, are now in a state of survival …
Now we are talking about passing the most difficult stage of active hostilities with the least damage. Accordingly, it is necessary to live with realistic expectations and understand that after the victory, although the situation with energy and raw material supply will improve, it will be at a new level. Therefore, it is not worth expecting that the products will become cheaper later, ”Trofimtseva said.
