On Sunday, a volcano in the Philippines threw a huge pillar of ash into the sky, covering a region that is still recovering from last week’s eruption.
Details
According to the Philippine Seismological Agency, the eruption of Bulusan volcano lasted 18 minutes, which worsened visibility on the road and forced the airline to cancel flights.
On June 5, Mount Bulusan released a gray plume at least one kilometer high and covered 10 villages with ashes.
Residents of the town of Juban in Sorsogon province, who have not yet recovered from last week’s eruption, woke up on Sunday from the roar of a volcano.
Emergency workers were involved in cleaning the ash-strewn roads and helping drivers.
Five flights in the area have been canceled.
Jubana’s local emergency department said 366 people were in shelters, most of whom had been evacuated days before the eruption due to a series of volcanic earthquakes.
Let’s add
Bulusan Volcano has been active in recent years, with a dozen such eruptions recorded in 2016 and 2017.
The Philippines is located in the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire and has more than 20 active volcanoes.
