A German government spokesman declined to confirm media reports that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, along with French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, will travel to Kyiv on Thursday, June 16 .

“We still do not confirm this,” said a government spokesman.
Scholz, who has not been in Kyiv since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has been criticized abroad for being cautious in supplying Ukraine with heavy weapons such as tanks and howitzers. He was forced to reject criticism that Berlin was not showing leadership.
At home, Scholz’s younger coalition partners are also growing frustrated with what they see as his leadership’s shortcomings with Ukraine, an internal rift that risks undermining Western unity against Russia, according to Reuters.
