Stoltenberg, for his part, said Turkey had “legitimate concerns” about Sweden.
“None of NATO’s allies has suffered more terrorist attacks than Turkey,” he said, referring to the Kurdish militant attack.
“Turkey plays a key role in supporting Ukraine. And now they are also playing a key role in finding a solution on how to export grain from Ukraine. So when a vital ally, such as Turkey, is worried about terrorism, of course , we have to sit down and take it seriously. And this is exactly what we are doing, “said the Secretary General.
On 18 May, Finland and Sweden formally applied to join NATO.
Turkey, a longtime member of the Alliance, has denied membership applications, criticizing them for allegedly supporting terrorist groups.
