It is not sanctions against Russia that are to blame for the jump in food prices, but Russia’s war against Ukraine – NATO Secretary General

This year’s jump in food prices is a consequence of Russia’s war against Ukraine, not the result of sanctions against Russia. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a briefing on Wednesday .

“As for grain and the export of food and grain from Ukraine, it is extremely important. We are seeing a jump in food and grain prices, and that simply demonstrates the global consequences of this war. And this is not due to NATO sanctions or Western sanctions against Russia. This is a direct consequence of Russia’s war against Ukraine. I say this because I see that Russia is trying to create a narrative that the jump in grain prices is caused by our sanctions. This is not true. It is caused by the war, and the best way to reduce food prices and export grain from Ukraine is to stop the war so that Russia can end the illegal war against Ukraine, “said the Secretary General.
Details
According to Stoltenberg, while the war continues, allied countries must decide how to export grain by all means.
He said that there are some efforts to overcome this problem.
“There will be some limitations in scale, but there are some efforts to export grain also by land, and European countries, NATO allies are also involved,” he said.
The Secretary General also said that when he last spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, one of the main issues he raised was Turkey’s efforts to conclude an agreement that would allow grain exports on ships to the Black Sea.
Before
Ukraine has developed two routes through Poland and Romania to export grain to prevent a global food crisis.
