Norway has imposed a new package of sanctions against Russia. In particular, Oslo banned the import of crude oil and other petroleum products from Russia. This was reported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

The agency adds that the ban on imports of crude oil and other petroleum products from Russia comes into force immediately, but the restrictions include transitional periods until December 5, 2022 for crude oil and until February 5, 2023 for petroleum products.
In addition, the provision of technical assistance, financing, etc. related to the purchase, import or transfer of oil is prohibited. It is forbidden to transport Russian oil to third countries and to promote it.
The list of sanctions also includes 65 people and 18 companies. Among them are Russians responsible for the atrocities in Bucha and Mariupol, businessmen and family members of oligarchs and civil servants, several defense companies and financial institutions.
Three Russian banks will be disconnected from the Swift payment system – Sberbank, Moscow Credit Bank and Russian Agrobank.
Norway will expand export controls / bans, for example on goods that can help increase Russia’s military and technological capabilities. This includes 80 chemicals that can be used to develop chemical weapons.
It is prohibited to provide a number of services to legal entities or the Russian government, such as auditing and accounting, financial advice, etc.
“Sanctions have intensified in several rounds. Given the ban on oil imports, the restriction of several large banks and the ban on a number of other goods that could affect Russia’s military potential, the opportunity to trade with Russia is very narrow, “the Foreign Minister added.
