Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 19, 2022- The European Union delegation in Ukraine announced via Twitter that the European Union’s Special Representative for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore, had arrived in Kyiv to express solidarity with Ukraine.
“At the beginning of the Russian aggression, I met refugees on the Polish border, and now I travel in the opposite direction to them to see for myself how Russian aggression violates human rights, to communicate with ordinary people and government officials,” Gilmore said after arriving in Kyiv.
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 2,479,398 people have returned to Ukraine since February 28.
As of June 14, the number of Ukrainians who have gone abroad since the Russian invasion has exceeded 7.5 million, and more than 3.3 million refugees from Ukraine have been granted temporary protection status in the European Union.
