Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 19, 2022- The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has endorsed the bill to terminate the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on Scientific and Technical Cooperation submitted by Prime Minister Denis Shmyal on May 11, and the import of books from Russia and Belarus into Ukraine is also prohibited.
“The law terminated the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Russia on scientific and technical cooperation,” he said.
According to Frolov, Parliament also supported the bill banning the import and distribution of publishing products into Ukraine from Russia, Belarus and the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, as well as publications in the language of the aggressor country imported from other countries, and still works for publications imported from Russia.
Parliament voted in favor of the bill on the introduction of stimulating the development of the Ukrainian book market as an important factor in human development and national security, and from 2023 it is planned to provide government support up to 20% of income to reimburse the cost of renting real estate used by the publishing body that will sell books in Ukrainian languages EU and Indigenous languages using RRO.
The politician added: “They also established the provision of in-kind assistance to citizens of Ukraine in the form of a certificate for the purchase of books for 0.3 of the subsistence level for people who are able to work (now it is 800 UAH) .
