Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 19, 2022- Serhiy Hayday, head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, announced on Facebook that the Russian occupiers had removed 15,000 tons of sunflowers and 10,000 tons of grain from granaries in the Luhansk region.
According to him, the occupying power buys grain for future sowing and offers farmers favorable purchase conditions – 8.0 thousand Russian rubles, while Ukraine paid 8.6 thousand hryvnia per ton of produce.
“Even the railway was quickly organized to transport 650 tons of grain from Starobilsk to Russia, now there are plans to get a record crop of winter wheat – almost a million tons of grain, winter – sown in autumn,” he said.
Gedayi added that the Russians exported 15,000 tons of sunflowers and 10,000 tons of grain from the region’s granaries.
Also, producers will pay only 30% of the cost of grain and even in rubles, experts understand that it is impossible to conduct a sowing campaign for the 2023 season with this money.
On June 7, Russia has stolen up to 500,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat worth $100 million since the Russian invasion in February, and most of this cargo was delivered by truck to ports in occupied Crimea and then transported by ship, including those under Western sanctions.
