On Sunday, June 19, in the night sky on the island of Stewart (Rakiura) in New Zealand, strange spiral light formations of blue color were noticed. Various theories about their origin have spread on social networks: from aliens to foreign rockets.

Stewart Island’s sightseeing guide, Alasder Burns, received a message from a friend asking him to go outside and look at the night sky. When he looked, he saw in the darkness a huge blue spiral of light.
“It looked like a huge spiral galaxy that just hangs in the sky and drifts slowly. It’s a scary feeling,” said the guide.
Groups on social networks that observe the stars and are involved in amateur astronomy have expressed various theories about the origin of spirals – from UFOs to foreign rockets and commercial shows. But according to Professor Richard Easter, a physicist at the University of Auckland, clouds of this nature usually sometimes occurred when a rocket launched a satellite into orbit.
