Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 20, 2022- The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs provided reports about the people who left Ukraine from the beginning of the war until June 16. The reports showed that there were 7.704 million people who left the country and 2.559 million people returned to it.
The ministry stated that on June 20, in accordance with the decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 2001, World Refugee Day is celebrated.
As a result of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine this year, millions of Ukrainian refugees have joined the vast majority of these people around the world.
“People have fled and are still fleeing from danger, from explosions and bombings, from armed and brutal criminals who have no value to their human lives,” the statement said.
3.207 million refugees from Ukraine have registered in Europe for temporary protection or similar national protection programmes.
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner, as of June 14, the number of Ukrainians who have gone abroad since the Russian invasion of Ukraine has reached more than 7.5 million.
More than 3.3 million refugees from Ukraine have been granted temporary protection status in the European Union, these are only officially registered refugees.
