Italy’s foreign minister leaves party due to poor support for Ukraine

Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 22, 2022- Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio left the Five Star Movement to undermine government efforts to support Ukraine.
The minister also announced the formation of a new parliamentary group, which will be supported by Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Giuseppe Conte, the leader of the Five Star Movement, said earlier that no more weapons should be sent to Kyiv, because he believed this might prolong the conflict.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, also thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Luigi Di Maio, for Ukraine’s decency and support.
“I am grateful to my Italian colleague Luigi Di Maio for his dignity,” Kuleba said. “Italy chose the right side of history, because supporting Ukraine is the only way to bring peace to Europe. Refusing to support Ukraine will only encourage Russia to continue the war.”
