UEFA bans international matches in Russian-occupied Transnistria

Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 25, 2022- The UEFA Executive Committee has banned all matches played under the auspices of the organization in the unrecognized territory of Transnistria.
This decision was made in accordance with previous decisions on the exclusion of Russian clubs and national teams, as well as in connection with the mass invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.
Thus, the Moldovan champion “Sharif” will not be able to play in the European Cups at his stadium in Tiraspol.
The UEFA Executive Committee also has overall responsibility for the smooth running of its competitions, which includes the obligation to temporarily ban matches in certain regions when a full range of circumstances require it, an alternative venue for matches outside Transnistria for home matches in UEFA club competitions. In the first round of qualifying for the Champions League, Sherif will play Bosnian Zrinski, and the Moldovan champions will play a home match on July 13.
