In September 2020, 15% more Ukrainians died than usually died this month in 2015-2019. In November, the situation is even worse – mortality increased by 20% compared to the same period in 2015-2019.
It is difficult to judge how much this jump is related to the coronavirus. Officially, 16 897 people have died from COVID-19 in Ukraine. At the same time, more than 9 thousand – in the last three months alone (1600 – in September, about 3 thousand – in October and about 6 thousand – in November). By the end of the year, 20 thousand deaths from coronavirus are predicted.
