Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – June 27, 2022- Andrei Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office, wrote on Telegram that Ukraine calls on international partners to impose a gas embargo against Russia as soon as possible and to tighten restrictions on Russian oil exports.
He pointed out that the restrictions on Russian gold imports announced by the G7 countries would cost Russia $19 billion annually, but the gas ban would be more effective.
Yesterday there was a need for a gas embargo and stricter restrictions on oil exports even though Russia receives far more from energy exports.
“We have to move in that direction,” Yermak said.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in an interview with CNN that a ban on imports of Russian gold, the country’s second most lucrative export after energy, would deprive Russia of access to $19 billion in revenue annually.
