The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated in his Twitter that Ukraine has supported US Clean Network initiatives to protect citizens’ private data from aggressive intrusion.
“Ukrainian-American cooperation in promoting a safe Internet for our citizens and companies was discussed with US Deputy Secretary of State Keith Krach. “Ukraine supports the principles of the Clean Network and will remain a reliable partner for investments of technology companies from around the world,” said Shmygal.
The US Embassy in Ukraine has already responded to such actions.
“Excellent meeting with Prime Minister Shmygal today. We are glad that Ukraine will join like-minded people, supporting the principles of “Clean Networks”, – said in a statement the diplomatic mission.
At the same time, US Undersecretary of State for Economic Development, Energy and Environment Keith Cracch said during an online briefing that the United States, in particular the US International Development Finance Corporation, could pay financial compensation to Ukraine for refusing to use 5G systems of Chinese company Huawei in favor of other manufacturers.
The US authorities announced the Clean Network initiative in August 2020. According to her, Chinese manufacturers will not have access to US telecommunications networks because such companies, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, “pose a threat to US national security and should not provide communications services to the United States.”
