According to Vilkul, according to the law, the renaming procedure will take at least 2 months.
Within 30 days (July 1-30), residents of streets to be renamed can see the list of new names proposed by the Working Group. To clarify with the residents of the streets, meetings will be held, during which scientists and local historians will talk about military units, historical figures, events, etc., in whose honor it is proposed to give new names. If residents have their own proposal by name, they can notify it by July 30 by sending a letter of justification to the address of their district council in the city, or bring it in person.
At the end of the 30-day period, renaming proposals will be systematized in each district of the city. It is given two weeks – from July 31 to August 14. After that, the employees of the district executive committees will hold a discussion with the residents of the streets from August 15 to 31, during which the residents will choose a new name for the street.

On May 11, at an extraordinary session of the Kharkiv City Council , a decision was made to rename three streets and a district in the city. According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, today deputies have changed the names of only a few landmarks for Kharkiv residents, but there are many more toponyms related to Russia in Kharkiv.
