Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – December 24, 2020 – Policy
The Servant of the People announced what bills would be adopted next year. Among them are judicial reform, a bill on an all-Ukrainian referendum, localization, household waste, reform of the SBU and the Constitutional Court.
This was told by the party chairman Alexander Kornienko and the head of the parliamentary faction David Arakhamia at the final press conference.
According to them, the party also plans to index pensions, accelerate “Big Construction” and start “Big restoration”, which provides for the restoration of 100 cultural monuments.
According to Arakhamia, in January “Servant of the People” plans to return to major reforms, in particular, in the economic and law enforcement sectors.
“There are things that we regret that we didn’t have time to do this year – of course, the coronavirus intervened in our plans. “, – announced the chairman of the faction.
In turn, Alexander Kornienko said that next year the state is preparing an increase in social benefits. In particular, additional payments will be introduced for pensioners who have reached 75 years of age. The salaries of doctors and teachers will be increased by about a third. Indexation of pensions is planned for March.
Parliament will work on judicial reform next year. Kornienko also noted that now the president and parliament are gradually restoring the normal work of the Constitutional Court and preparing a comprehensive reform of it in order to prevent a repetition of a constitutional crisis similar to the current one.
“Just yesterday, a working group led by Denis Monastyrsky registered a bill on reforming the Constitutional Court: on the rules of procedure, on certain quorums, and so on. This will also, I think, be adopted in the coming weeks,” the party chairman said.
Kornienko noted that 2021 should be the year of economic and cultural recovery. In particular, the “Big Restoration” project is starting, within the framework of which 100 monuments of cultural heritage will be restored. The head of Servant of the People believes that thanks to this program and the reduced VAT for the tourism industry in Ukraine, it will be possible to significantly develop domestic tourism and infrastructure.
The Servant of the People explained that the Big Restoration will be a continuation of the Big Construction. Thanks to the presidential program, 3,900 km of state roads and 1,826 km of local roads, 150 bridges, 146 schools, 105 kindergartens and 115 sports complexes have been repaired and built this year.
In 2021, they plan to continue the decentralization reform, launch services on the ground, and deploy the CPAU network.
“Next year should be the year when people will understand the practical benefits of decentralization. In addition, the number of deputies has decreased, thanks to which it was possible to save money on the ground. In your village you will be able to get much closer, better quality and more affordable public services, education, medicine, and so on, “says Kornienko.
The authorities plan to expand access to cheap loans for small businesses. We are talking about a program of loans at 5-7-9 percent. This year, authorized banks have issued more than 6, 5 thousand loans for a total amount of over UAH 15 billion.
“Small and medium-sized businesses are very actively using this system. The National Bank maintains a low discount rate. Due to this, there are grounds to believe that next year this lending program will increase 2 or 3 times,” added David Arahamia.
Among the legislative plans for the next year are also the adoption of the law on an all-Ukrainian referendum and the law on household waste.
Work on reforms should start from the first plenary week of the new year, Kornienko noted.
