As the President of Germany noted, the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine “have made it clear even to those who are not concerned about economic issues, how much we have become dependent on raw materials and primary products from countries all over the world in the second phase of globalization.” He adds that the consequences of these changes are unpredictable.
Steinmeier warned that no one would be able to return to normal politics and business after the war, and countries should reduce their dependence on authoritarian regimes.
