Delegations from about 40 countries are expected to take part in the event, they plan to develop the so-called Marshall Plan for Ukraine.
The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke about active preparations for the start of a special conference in Lugano, Switzerland.
“Its first day is on Monday. A large-scale international event dedicated to the reconstruction of our country. Reconstruction in the broadest sense of the word. It is necessary not just to restore everything that was destroyed by the occupiers, but to create a new basis for our life, for Ukraine – a safe, modern, convenient, barrier-free. This requires colossal investments – billions, new technologies, best practices, new institutions and, of course, reforms,” the Head of State said in a video address.
A delegation from Ukraine will arrive in Lugano with the participation of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba. Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to connect via video link.
The conference will continue on July 4-5. It will begin with the arrival of the participants and the reception of Denys Shmyhal by the country’s authorities at 11 a.m. local time.
The opening ceremony is expected at 1:30 p.m.
Ukraine will present a large-scale reconstruction plan, separate meetings will also deal with the fight against corruption and self-government reform.
