Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – July 6, 2022- On June 26, 2022, the commander of the Volat battalion of the Kastuś Kalinoŭski regiment, using the call sign Brest, was killed in battles in the city of Lysychansk, Luhansk region.
The relevant statement was made by the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment on Facebook.
The Volat battalion was repelling the attack of the Russian invaders on Lyschansk. The soldiers repelled tank attacks and enemy attempts to enter the city.
During the second wave of the offensive of the Russian forces, the Volat battalion was forced to withdraw but directed the Ukrainian artillery to the enemy positions. Several soldiers were lost after that.
Thanks to personal heroism and self-sacrifice, the Belarusian fighters stopped the advance of the tank column, which allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to safely withdraw the main forces in the desired direction.
On July 5, 2022, it was reported that Ivan, commander of the Fallat battalion, using the call sign Brest, had been killed in action. Many defenders also disappeared.
A reminder that on July 3, 2022, after heavy fighting in the city of Lyschansk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces were forced to withdraw from their positions and borders.
