Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – July 6, 2022- The reconstruction of the city of Mariupol destroyed by the Russian aggressor will cost more than 14 billion dollars and will take seven to ten years.
According to the mayor, 1,356 residential buildings in the city were destroyed or damaged due to the war, 40% of private homes were bombed, and most of them cannot be reconstructed, so it is planned to build new ones.
The official added that cooperation with various experts from the cities destroyed during World War II – Gdansk, Warsaw, Dresden and Rotterdam – is already continuing.
“We are studying their reconstruction experience, and we hope that there will be a separate chapter for Mariupol in the Marshall Plan for the whole country,” he said. “I also thank the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the European Investment Bank for the continued interest in our city, and I believe that we are together.” We will return the city of Mariupol and make it better. ”
Mariupol is also witnessing one of the biggest humanitarian disasters caused by the Russian aggression, as the city was almost completely destroyed by enemy bombing.
