The Minister of Defense visited the Ukrainian military this week. He noted that this training program is the next stage of Great Britain’s support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their fight against Russian aggression.
The program is part of the state’s ongoing commitment to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s unprovoked invasion. It includes more than £2.3 billion in military aid, more than 5,000 NLAW anti-tank weapons and M270 rocket launchers.
Wallace added that the exercises will take place at military training grounds in the Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast regions. The training will be conducted by units of the 11th Brigade of Assistance to the Security Forces.
The program aims to provide volunteer recruits with little or no military experience with the skills to effectively conduct combat operations on the front lines. Based on UK military training, the course covers weapons handling, battlefield first aid, field techniques, patrol tactics and the law of armed conflict.
The country’s government promptly purchased AK assault rifles for the program, so Ukrainian soldiers will be able to train with the weapons they will use on the front lines.
This idea was supported by the Welsh Guards, who tested more than 2,400 of these rifles for 17 days to ensure that they were ready for the Ukrainians to begin training.
Great Britain also provided clothing and equipment to support Ukrainian soldiers.
In particular, issued:
Personal protective equipment including helmets, body armor, eye protection, earmuffs, pelvic protection and personal first aid kits.
– Field uniform and boots;
– Clothes for cold and wet weather;
– Additional equipment required for field conditions, including. ponchos, sleeping bags and burial tools;
The United Kingdom has a long history of supporting Ukraine as part of the ORBITAL operation, during which 22,000 Ukrainian military personnel were trained from 2015 to 2022.
