The European Union intends to build a bunker in Brussels worth 8 million euros, in which secret negotiations will take place.

According to the EU memorandum describing the project, the bunker will be able to accommodate about 100 people – up to 34 leaders and 34 protocolists, as well as technical and service personnel.
The space will be disconnected from the Internet, but equipped with in-house conferencing technology with a large screen and microphones connected to booths for 30 interpreters.
As expected, the bunker will allow for secret negotiations and provide protection from Russian and other spies. The meeting hall will be closed with a NATO-certified insulating frame, which will protect against electromagnetic and radio waves that can be intercepted remotely.
It is stressed that even the cleaners will have to get SECRET EU security clearance to get inside. Participants in secret talks must leave their smartphones and other gadgets in soundproof lockers outside the bunker.
As noted, the facility is planned to be built by 2024 in the EU Council complex in Brussels, where summits are already held. The exact location has not yet been determined.
EUobserver writes that the decision to build the bunker was made against the background of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and plans to create a joint EU-NATO military force. It is also reported that Belgium recently expelled two Russian spies who specialized in signal interception. But China and Israel have also been embroiled in scandals involving wiretapping of EU officials in recent years.
