“For 30 years, there has been no law on arms circulation in our country. And it will finally happen. That is, in the near future we expect the adoption of the law on arms circulation. Therefore, I support, unequivocally, the adoption of such a law. There are a lot of issues to be resolved, including questions about sports weapons and hunting weapons. And one of the main issues that worries citizens is the circulation of short-barreled firearms and pistols. “We conducted a survey in Diya, where the largest number of citizens in history voted to have access to short-barreled firearms,” Monastyrskyy said.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the discussion has now moved to the parliament, and it is there that the final version will be determined, which will be approved by the Ukrainian parliament and approved by Ukrainian society.
Monastyrskyi added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is cooperating with the Ministry of Health to digitize psychologist’s certificates in a single common database, where it is possible to check who exactly issued these certificates – so that it is clearly organized.
“Shotguns should be kept at home and used to protect the home. Or, if we are talking about short-barreled firearms, for use in shooting ranges, without the right to carry. This is a preliminary position that is being discussed, but there will still be a discussion in the parliament,” added Monastyrskyi.
