Early on Thursday morning, emergency services evacuated another residential area and took about 60 people to a safe place.
According to officials, the situation in the commune of La Teste de Bouches is currently unclear, as access to the area is difficult. About 1,000 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fires around La Teste de Bouche and nearby Landiras.
The ongoing drought in the region, combined with high temperatures, has created conditions for the spread of fires.
The danger level of forest fires in the region has been raised to orange.
Fireworks are also prohibited in some communes. Thursday is a national holiday in France, which is usually celebrated with fireworks across the country.
Three planes, which were originally supposed to take part in a military parade in Paris on the occasion of the national holiday, are now extinguishing fires instead, a representative of the civil protection authority told the BFMTV channel.
