The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea, in response to the breakdown of diplomatic relations by Ukraine, stated that Ukraine allegedly has no right to talk about sovereignty, due to what the DPRK called joining the actions of the United States regarding “violation of Pyongyang’s sovereignty.” This is reported by Reuters,

“Ukraine has no right to raise the issue of sovereignty after joining the unjust and illegal actions of the United States that violated Pyongyang’s sovereignty,” the DPRK said in a statement.
The country’s Foreign Ministry also said that Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs are a “means of self-defense” and accused the US of “hostile policy” through sanctions and military exercises with South Korea.
“We will continue to strengthen and develop friendship and cooperation with all countries that respect our sovereignty and treat us favorably, based on the principles of sovereign equality, non-interference in internal affairs and mutual respect,” the message said.
